'Tin Drum' influence?

A strange young boy conceived in bizarre circumstances, lots of emphasis on bodily functions and grotesque sex scenes... it is just me, or did this film remind anyone else of "The Tin Drum"? http://imdb.com/title/tt0078875

Im a lover of both films & seen them both several times but never thought of this until you mentioned it. Its been a long time since Ive see the Tin Drum but I think you are onto something here. There are similiarites but I would have to see both again to be certain enough to mention them. :)

Funny story: I rented "The Tin Drum" for the first time a week prior to watching "Léolo" - I honestly had no idea how similar the films would turn out to be! It was just random luck of the draw, I suppose . . .

Anyway, the really unique thing about both films is that they both feature a young actor who plays the central character from a very, VERY young age to older teenage years. Both films were also the very definition of "grotesque" . . . and I kinda loved them.

Funny someone sees a similarity, too - coincidentally I'm currently reading the "Tin Drum" for the third time, and watched "Leolo" yesterday; me too, I had the hunch of a probable influence of (not the film which I haven't seen yet) but of Grass' novel on Lauzon's film, though the likeness to me appears rather superficial, but it's there, I'd say.
