Not only was the scene sexy, sensual, playful and sadly comical (H.Grant's helpless misery), but Polanski used one of my absolute favorite tunes as backdrop: "Slave to Love" by Brian Eno. (Also used to great effect in that oldie but goodie "9 & 1/2 weeks", a film with the same kind of "pushing the envelope as far as we can" sexual undertones as "Bitter Moon.") It certainly seems an appropriate song for Mimi - she never would have been Oscar's tormentor if she hadn't been in Oscar's thrall in the first place.
And I thought the scene was even more satisfying when I replayed KST's words over in my head: "Anything you can do I can do better." Apparently that means getting the girl as well.
