Regarding the accident that resulted in Oscar's paraplegia

The event in the hospital that results in Iscar's paraplegia makes little or no sense. He has a right femur fracture. The fracture is being treated by traction. Mimi pushes him from the bed and he injures his spine so severely in the mid-thoracic area that he has no function below the level of injury.
More likely than not a severe shove while in traction would disrupt the femur resulting in absorbtion of force at that area as opposed to transmission to the spine.
Bottom line just not believable even when compared to the rest of this Roman Polanski fantasy.
