I totally agree. One of her best performances and certainly the best that year.

She won a Berlin Sliver Bear for BEST ACTRESS with this movie in 1993.

I also think Michelle should have won the Oscar for her performance. This was a good movie but very hard to watch at times. I also liked seeing all the Old/vintage cars in the movie. Wow

Was she actually better than the other nominees?

Pfeiffer should have won an Oscar in 1992, but not for Love Field. She's perfectly suited to play the bleach blonde damsel in distress, but she gave a much more iconic and layered performance earlier in the year with Tim Burton's Batman Returns, as Catwoman. You may scuff, but Heath Ledger won for playing the Joker after all 16 years later. Pfeiffer was pitch-perfect.

The 1992 competition was medicore at best. It included a foreign film performance that doesn't register my memory, and then the following nominees---

Mary McDonnell - Passion Fish (an old, tired performance that was okay in it's day but is nothing special)

Emma Thompson - Howards End (A bore of a film. Most critics loved it, but I couldn't get into it. She was better in The Remains of the Day and Sense and Sensibility).

Susan Sarandon - Lorenzo's Oil (The performance that should have prevailed had it not been overtly long and the character so dislikable.)
