I liked the movie a lot. But I was unable to finish it. Do they die of HIV or guns ? Or do the live on. Did they continue thier attempt at love ? And was that succesfull.

Araki does what almost no gay-themed film before this had done: it has a "living end" where the gay heroes actually LIVE beyond the end of the film. We sure needed that!

It was a great end...and an unusual one for gay-themed cinema of the day.
It did not end in death, bloodshed,
nor the all-too-common "fag-couple-must-split-up."
It was, at the same time, both hopeful and hopeless.....

The camerawork is a bit coy.
But I think the two leads are supposed to be performing anal penetration with their pants on in the middle of the desert.
Perhaps they're just performing frottage. It's hard to tell
