Anyone know if this was in theaters?

I would imagine so, but can't find any box office reports. In fact some sites don't give Peirce credit for this film.

I don't recall it being in theaters here in Southern California. If it was, it was a very limited release.

For example, another movie, "The Last of the Dogmen", wasn't in Southern California, but I was on business travel to Monterey, which is more northern, and it was in a small movie theater there.

So, either "Live Wire" was in very limited release (say, only a couple of hundred theaters across the US compared to several thousand for a normal release), or was a direct-to-video type movie.

I'm waiting for this movie to come out on DVD as I really like it and want to buy it.

Until then, I have my trusty DVD-R recording of when it appeared on Cinemax last year.

you can find it on ebay. i just bought a version that has the rated and unrated version on one disc.

Great DVD and a great movie.

Try looking for the DVD at your local Blockbuster(s). I rented it over a year ago. You could even purchase the store copy.

According to the IMDB, under "Release date", says that Hydrotoxin is the name of the film in Germany and Hungry.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

I'm not totally sure but I guess Live Wire was shooted for theatre release but at the end it only went on TV.

Actually you are correct about it being made for TV babylondon-1 because it was shown back in the early 90's or mid 90's on USA Network here in the U.S.. I remember seeing it advertised on the USA Network back in the day when the programming was a lot better than what it is now. I just thought I would let you all know about this to help answer your question.

Possibly it was shown in small towns or parts of the United States but I do not remember seeing it at all so it might have been directly to video back in the day.

I remember seeing this in the theater when I lived in Biloxi, MS. It only played for a couple of weeks, though.

I saw this film when it premiered on HBO in the fall of 1992. It was a HBO films production specifically for the channel. I was 12 years old at the time. Man how time flies.

It was made as a summer blockbuster but instead premiered on HBO before receiving a home media release.
