Why did the king need nemo for his heir why couldn't he just have given his money and power to the princess and let the princess marry whoever she wanted... (ps. I can't remember the movie all that well so sorry if some of my info is off)

Well, it's his dream right? Everything should go his way until it becomes a nightmare.

I don't think it was a dream! I think that Nemo will be called to be king of Slumberland once he comes of age. Thing is, by that time, he'll probably believe it was all a dream.

It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

because shes a girl

Being the king was obviously a huge responsibility. Nemo was worthy of the responsibility, as demonstrated by the fact that he admitted his mistake (opening the door) and making amends for it, despite the difficulty and the danger. Plus, Nemo was compatible with his daughter. Why trust the future of his kingdom to chnace? Arranging marriages is part and parcel to the royalty game.

If you don't like that explanation consider this one; it wouldn't have been much of a movie if he hadn't chosen Nemo.

That part of the movie is the reason that I am a feminist, and actually have opinions. I've always wondered why the princess didn't get the kingdom.
