Ad-Libbing?

Does anyone know if the scenes between Glover, Gibson & Pesci were ad-libbed or only partially scripted?

A lot of the humour seems so natural between the 3 of them, I wondered if Richard Donner just gave them the general direction of the scene then watched them go.
