Anyone else see this as...

... an attempt at a British Woody Allen movie?

I thought it had it's moments but all the way through I couldn't help but think of Woody Allen and how he would have made a much better job at directing it. I remember even at the time it looked dated (brit-flicks were yet to have their cool post-modern 1990's make over) and now think had it been made a few years later when UK films were much more in vogue it would have been better received and appreciated more today.
