Deleted scene?

I remember very clearly that there was a deleted scene that either happened sometime in between the two scenes (or happened instead of Betty's husband dying,) that something about a beanball hitting a pregnant player and that was why Dottie was crying before her husband surprised her. I suddenly can't find anything about it but I had read that the last time I watched A League of Their Own on TV. Can anybody confirm?

Yes; there is a deleted scene on the DVD that has Marla Hooch returning to the league (on an opposing team) and playing while pregnant(!). The other players make a
secret agreement to go easy on her so she won't hurt herself playing, so she spends most of her time on the bench. Dottie is
on first base after a base hit and begins arguing with Jimmy about the night before, when they made a romantic advance towards each other(!). While they're having
their lovers' spat in the middle of the game, Dottie is unaware(!) that the second baseman
on the opposing team needs to leave the game, and Marla has taken her place. When play resumes, Dottie, still upset, heads for second and barrels aggressively into the second baseman, realizing too late that it's Marla, who is knocked down and carried off the field on a stretcher. All the other players are shocked and furious at her and avoid her at the boarding house; she hides in her bedroom ashamed of herself. When the hospital calls her to let her know that Marla and her
baby are going to be okay, she starts weeping in relief and self-loathing, and that's when her husband surprises her.

Mercifully, this horribly contrived and ridiculous series of events was removed from the movie. How it ever reached the filming stage is hard to fathom.
The pregnant Marla returning to play was bad enough; Jimmy and Dottie's friendship having romantic implications tainted the whole point of their relationship.

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

God, yeah! That's pretty silly. Glad the baby was going to be okay even though it wasn't in the movie.
That AND it doesn't make sense because Dottie never even played the whole movie.
Thanks for the info! I couldnt find it anywhere, I could've sworn it was in the IMDB trivia and on Wikipedia.

I just made a thread about that. the lack of this scene makes Dot to be a little selfish when it turns out she is freaking out over what she [accidentally] might have done to Marla.

I also thought it left out a lot of character development for everyone involved.. even Mae and Doris who were so happy or Marla and so upset at Dot who just didn't know about Marla being pregnant or hiding it from the management.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.
