Why can't this be about the short story by Stephen King?

When I read in the book by King about this man who eats grass, I loved it but this film has nothing to do with that. It would be so much better if they actually made the film to represent the book. I'm so very disappointed.

There was a short film made in 1987 that was more faithful to the original King story. I have never seen it though.

Well for whatever reason Stephen King didn't want to be associated with this movie. He sued whoever it was (check out the trivia for this movie) and his name is not supposed to be connected with this movie.

He did write a short story titled "The Lawnmower Man"

my guess is King didn't want a movie making money using his name and not his ideas.

I read the short story when I was a kid. How many of us would look and the lawn guy and then wonder if he eats gophers after reading the story? Cracked me up.

I thought this movie was good. In a way it was kind of Stephen Kingish, it was like Firestarter. It's like the the producers adapted King's story and turned it into Firestarter one of King's other works.

25 years ago, people cared more about VR than Greek mythology.

How could you make a feature-length movie out of such a tiny story?

P.S. Why does King have his characters wear sweaters in warm weather?

It's eternity in there.

I haven't read the short story but I've heard the synopsis. I can't see how that story would be better than the lawnmower man movie. A guy who eats grass and then kills someone? That isn't much of a movie.
