Huron that fat in reality?

Did they just stuff themselves with beef and bread, the Huron fighters all seemed really beefed up and fat. I would imagine they would be a bit more emaciated in the 19th century.

reply

Emaciated? These peoples lived on game, which was then plentiful and fresh fish from the rivers nearby. They were highly active, games & sports encouraged, so they would be very fit. Only the middle-aged would get fat.

Story takes place in the mid-18th Century, in the year 1757 (not in the 19th Century)

Most people hate dates.

reply

Oh, I don't know about that. I think dates are delicious.

They would be well fed with plenty of forage and game. Plus, they'd be trading with the British and French for what they didn't have. Meat on your bones is a good thing. Come winter, you'll need it.

If they were emaciated, they'd be dead in a year. The Huron have been in that region for a thousand years. You don't stay in a place that starves you.
