Enchanting

This film is haunting and delightful. It addresses the pain of relationships and endings and beginnings yet has a lovely, sunlit, optimistic quality even while this family is disintegrating and redefining itself. Plus the soundtrack is gorgeous, especially the gentle piano piece that plays over the scene of the sister and Bruno Ganz. I wondered if this movie, which is rather obscure, even had its own IMDb listing, glad to see it does!

I totally agree! I saw this in the theater and remembered it for years afterward. Finally tracked down a VHS copy a few years ago. The optimistic quality is what stayed with me, the thought that you can choose to move on and be happy, even if it is painful to let go.

May I ask where you found the VHS?

He said it's all in your head, and I said, so's everything--
But he didnt get it.

My copy was given to me. If you haven't already found one; there should be some on ebay.

Well put Marzipan_Girl. I was lucky to find a VHS in a second hand store and found it very engrossing. Five relationships in flux simultaneously: Beth and JP, Beth and Vicki, Beth and her father, JP and Vicki, and Beth's daughter and the young lodger. All handled intelligently. Well done all around.

Of Course it has it's own listing! LOL You must have not seen many bad movies. You are lucky.
