I know everyone will have different definition of being "cool", but here are my top three:
1. Porco rosso (Being a pig does not remotely make him less cool!)
2. Nausicaa (Look at the way she fly her glider -- way cool!)
3. Haku (It's just hard not to feel cool about someone if he can transform into a dragon!)

I admire every character for their own qualities.I'll only name one from each Miyazaki movie that I've seen because there are so many that I wanna name.
My Neighbor Totoro...TOTORO!Okay,it's been a while since I've seen the movie but c'mon,it's Totoro man.He's just so huggable and caring like a good friend.Don't forget about the Chibi Totoros too.
Spirited Away...Chihiro.Yeah okay it's debatable but she's just a kid.She starts out as a brat but throughtout the movie,we see that she has just as much courage and kindness as Haku,Lin and all of her good friends in the Spirit World.
Howl's Moving Castle...Haru.He seems like a pretty boy but he's better than that.He's kind and confident and even with a terrible curse on him,he still manages to hold himself together and protect his family.
Princess Mononoke...San.She's tough,solitare and fierce.I feel bad that her parents abandoned her when they were being attacked by wolves.I can relate to her because she feels a bit lost about where she belongs in this world.
Kiki's Delivery Service...Kiki.I think that she's cute,so much better in the Jap version.She's independent but all around polite and friendly.Her flying makes her so spirited and confident.
Nausicaa:of the Valley of the Wind...Nausicaa.She's my all time favorite in this movie.I like how she's the "superheroine" of her time.It's amazing that she has lost so many people in her life yet she still stands strong for her people.Warrior Princesses rock!
Porco Russo...Fio.She's too damn cool.She's feisty and adventerous.Although she's probably the youngest main character,she can handle a "man's" job and still be a lady.You go Fio!
Castle in the Sky...can't choose between Pazu and Sheeta.Pazu is gentle,brave and eager to take on a challenge and Sheeta is sweet,innocent and loving.Together they have an amazing friendship/romance relationship that anyone can find irresistable.

7. Least of all I think it is because he doesn't relate to me at all is Prince Ashi-taka because he believes in does not really believe in a wrong and right, just Peace.
8.I don't really like to mention this film - Grave of the Fireflies because it is very haunting but I really like the two characters, Seita and his little sister.
