Um, what about the Ancient? I consider him a primary character as well. The Chinatown scenes have lots of asian actors in minor roles too.

But anyway, to preserve continuity with the 1972 series they had to use Carradine who is a remarkable actor anyway. Some people think he looks a little asian, but I don't see it personally.

Oh, and the show was filmed in Canada. So are the Canadians bad guys too, or just us evil Americans?

um...who cares? No one's making you watch the show...not to mention it's almost 15 years old now...they kept the guy from the original and since the second lead in the show was going to be his son he had to be white as well...

and as for the directors/writers/producers...they were the ones hired to do the show...so unless you know the circumstances behind that to prove that all other nationalities were specifically excluded from having anything to do w/making this show, there's really no basis for your arguement...

Despite what IMDB says, this show was shot and produced in Canada. Toronto to be exact. I even did some searcing to be sure, since I haven't seen this great show in 4 years. The following information comes from this weblink:

"Kung Fu is filmed in and around Toronto, but is set in "any major metropolitan US city." Fortunately, Toronto looks generic enough, except for the CN Tower, which is successfully blocked wherever possible by lightpoles and smokestacks. Mention is made of several other US cities, such as Seattle, Baltimore, Chicago, and others, eliminating them as possible locations for the series. In "Manhunt," the city is apparently close enough to Niagara Falls to be within driving distance, possibly placing it in Upstate New York. Many fans simply refer to the unknown location of KF:TLC as "Sloanville.""

Also, Peter Caine, & Kermit Griffin two Characters from the show, are Ontarians.

Toronto doesn't really look generic enough, contrary to what that article says.

Kung Fu constantly has Toronto specific landmarks on-screen. Ie: TTC vehicles and subway signs, Sam the Record Man on Yonge St, the chinatown shops on Spadina St., Toronto police vehicles, Toronto police stations, Woodbine Centre and other Toronto-specific malls. That's just scratching the surface, there are tons more.

It was always pretty silly that the show tried to pretend it was taking place in America when anyone familiar with Toronto would realize it's painfully obvious that it's Toronto.

Having said all that, the original post doesn't bother me. I didn't know David Carradine was White, but he doesn't act White on the show. Peter's mother was White, so it's okay for Peter to be White.
