White Mans Axel Foley??

is it just me or did they try to make a white mans Beverly Hills Cop/Axel Foley in this movie??

even the Kuffs synthy theme that played about every 10 seconds, sounded like a rip-off of the theme from Beverly Hills Cop

reply

perhaps the theme sounded so similar because the same guy composed it...

Harold Faltermeyer, did many synth 80s and early 90s themes including Fletch.

its kinda true but not in a bad way since i like both movies.

I love both movies but you could tell it was cut from the same cloth. Having the local police force disagree with you than be on your side to help you take down bad guys and both of them are after the bad guys for a personal vendetta. The synth song sounded very similar not because of the same composer did it, because the same composer made is sound exactly the same.

I finally got to see BHC and the similarities are striking. Ever notice the resemblance between Judge Reinhold and Tony Goldwyn? Slater's wardrobe was similar to Murphy's as well: Blue jeans and the numbered jacket. And the scene when they ganged up on Murphy and punched him in the gut--I was taken aback at how similar the two films are.

I am not saying Kuffs is a BHC rip-off, but I did not expect to see that many of the same elements. BHC was a huge hit and Kuffs tanked--that is one thing they don't have in common.
