How would you describe this movie?

I was trying to think of something to compare it to in order to recommend it to a friend, and the best I could think of was a cross between Beverly Hills Cop and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

thats actually a pretty good explanation, feels like a combo of both.

reply

Yeah, just not as funny or creative. It does have its moments, though. ;)

reply

I describe it as an unique blend of comedy, drama, action and romance.

the words "lame", "derivative" and "bad" come to mind.

I would describe it as a poor-mans version of Beverly Hills Cop, but with a nice dosage of a fine Milla Jovovich and cool smart-assed Christian Slater thrown into the mix.

I would describe it as an early 90's action comedy flick that is quite underrated. It has a great deal of funny and dramatic scenes in it, a good soundtrack, and the cast does a decent job. It does mix the two movies, but it does not borrow too much from either one.

I would throw in a dash of "Police Academy" in there as well.. actually probably more Police Academy 2 than 1. Goldwyn is the funny humorless guy.. Not quite as over the top as Tackelberry. And there's a few other supporting cop characters and even an Academy scene.

So those 3 thrown into a blender and hit puree is pretty good definition of this film. It's a buddy cop movie. Lethal Weapon more in the vein of Fletch.

Gleaming the cube and some cop movie from that era.

Slater regularly talking to the camera is very Ferris Bueller (I can actually stand Slater's character), but overall, Kuffs is way more similar to Beverly Hills Cop than anything else.

In any case, while it's nowhere near as impressive as the aforementioned '84 classic, Kuffs can be a somewhat interesting and very enjoyable movie as long as you don't compare it to anything. 

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

Christian Slater inherits a police force and uses it to tear down the 4th wall

A crap version of Beverley Hills Cop crossed with Ferris Bueller.

It's that man again!!
