Ending (spoiler)

Ages since I saw it, so who was the killer again ?

I remember Lambert fighting with him in a watery basement, was it with Daniel Baldwin, the cop ?

I am not a complete idiot. Some parts are missing.

It was the computer guy, David, who proved to be the kid from the beginning. The one who stabbed Lambert after losing a game to him when they were kids.

The identity of the killer was a big disappointment as it was no surprise. They tried setting up a couple of red herrings, making us suspect Lambert himself a couple of times, then suspect Baldwin at the end when he comes to take the daughter to safety (but the last one doesn't work since Baldwin was present when the killer called the cops). Then you have David the computer wiz. There is really no other reason to have a character like him around unless he's the killer. He runs the computers at the tournament -useless in the plot- and helps fix Lambert's private computer, which also adds zero to the plot, then later on Skerritt says the killer found the names of the victims by hacking into the computer files of the real estate agency, well DUH what a shocker then that David the computer-geek is the killer! If they REALLY wanted to surprise us they should have made David into another red herring, but apart from those already mentioned they introduced very few other characters that could be a likely killer.

Found the film itself mildly entertaining though, mainly thanks to supporting actors like Tom Skerritt, Diane Lane and Ferdy Mayne, now those are solid names to have in any film! Also I'm a sucker for serial killer movies. But the star, Lambert, was disappointing this time around, not strong enough to carry the film on his own, paling in comparison with the supporting actors (even the annoying Daniel Baldwin outshines him). Lambert did far better acting in movies like Highlander, Fortress, Ressurection etc.

i realised it was the computer guy but for the wrong reasons...

theres a scene where he puts the games on the computer for the daughter. i thought he was planting some evidence on the computer but he hadnt (or we never found out)

just seems weird that that scene is in the movie, it doesnt add anything at all!

reply

Well I think they included the scene to help the audience remember who the guy was when he showed up at the end, nothing more.

argh! i hate those scenes! anyone that cant remember 90mins should be shot!!
