One of the worst movies I have seen

This movie ranks up there with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Van Helsing, The Brothers Grimm, and a few other monstrous piles of dung.

I saw this movie shortly after it was released to VHS and I couldn't stand it. I thought the main actor sucked so bad that I couldn't watch the whole movie. I think I watched 30 minutes of it before I went back to the rental place and returned it. Bad. Awfull. It get's worse than this though; Dennis Hopper starred in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, and comparitively speaking he made Brad Pitt's performance look brilliant in this terrible movie.

It's Hollywood, and they don't care about talent, just sales. And good looks and sex appeal are what sells to the general public. Good taste and good acting don't matter much to many Hollywood types.

What a strange comment to make about a very non-Hollywood indie movie that has zero resemblance to any of the three movies you mentioned.

What he (mnemonic) just said.....

^^^yeah, what they said.

RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman 1967-2014... a tremendously great and talented actor.

I like Brothers Grimm, it's goofy. None of the actors were really bad in it, it's just the plot was sort of weird. Brad Pitt has gone on to do some of the best performances of my lifetime, so people who want good actors should hire Brad Pitt.

you can't rate a movie you watched for 30 min.....you didn't even get a chance to understand it. You probally took it back to rent Naked gun. LXG,VH, and BG arn't bad movie in their own right...they are over hyped and way overly hollywoodised. All that said, its a ok movie at best, bust it's in the style of Lynch and Gilliam, which means you have to watch it twice to understand it.

I recently finished watching Johnny Suede on Netflix. It took me a very long time. I fell asleep twice, and revisited it no less than 5 times. It's a bad film, but too dissimilar to those mentioned by the OP to warrant comparison.

As of today this movie is rated at 5.6. That to me means it could easily fit on anyone's worst movies ever list. Easily...

There are a lot of people here that have praised the movie and Pitt's performance; but the number doesn't lie.

In my book any movie rated 6.5 or higher on IMDB is worth seeing. Any number lower than that means it becomes exponentially worse as it approaches 1.0.

If there are so many fans of this movie and his acting in this forum, there must be 10 times as many people who have rated it far worse to garner a meager 5.6.

This movie is horrible. Any time someone wants to praise Brad Pitt's performance I refer them to this hunk. Once you see this movie all his future performances seem that much worse and it puts his acting in a whole different light.

The dude plays a handsome, amateur musician with most definitely a double digit I.Q. in the low eighties. Not all stories can be about geniuses accomplishing major things. The dark comedy that is the gem of a film is easily misconstrued as poorly acted drama. You have to be in a certain mindset to watch this film, a patient one. Every bad review I read on it just seems like somebody trying to rush through it for something that they enjoy. Whether they enjoy it or not, has jack to do with the quality of the piece. It doesn't make the movie horrible, it just means it's not for you. I use the people who trash this film as a prime example of people who probably have a limited, snobby grasp of the concept of music, too. I mean, for fack's sake! The flick is about a dude who idolizes a musical era that is waning in popularity, and his struggles to adapt to it against his own instincts, which is about all he's got up in old noggin.

This film is terrific. Any time someone wants to knock Brad Pitt's performance I refer them to this jewel. Once you see this movie all his future performances amount to selling out and it shows his capabilities in a whole different light.
