Location of this Movie

On Wiki the location of the movie setting is given as Dehradun.. On IMDB it is Nainital.. I never completely understood which is correct.. it can't be Dehra - it was still a big enough town in those days.. And had hardly any colleges.. BTW, never understood why they couldn't make it Kodai instead.. Maybe due to the language (Hindi)..
