Why didn't Jackie direct this?

I had always thought of the Police Story films as Jackie's baby so just a bit odd to see him turn over the reigns to someone else and the film does have a very different feel to the previous two movies.

It's still a great film but it feels more like an gunplay/action film rasher than a martial arts one which I guess the Police Story films were always half and half but the hand to hand combat seems much scarcer in PS3.
