Technically he didn't change or throw away everything he worked for. What he gave up was what was wrong for him. He was to talented and worked to hard for to long to be where he was. He was in a company, yes making 6 figures, but they were skeazy. He's good at his job and he could get a job somewhere else that is much better than that. The only reason he was there was because the guy "pulled him off the street" so it was kind of like, Oh thank you for the job. But with his experience in that company he could get a job somewhere else. The whole thing was that they balanced each other out. She helped him realize that what he had worked so hard for wasn't where he was. More than likely, after the "Happily Ever After" she is more than likely his inspiration to get a better job in a better environment. And he helped her get what she truly wanted out of life. He's a guy who is going place, who is striving to climb the ladder. What is waiting for her in Jersey are a bunch of guys who are basically set in their ways and have no desire to go further, cause they are content to stay as is. He is her key to her dreams. What I think is interesting is the fact that there are people that want to keep each other down. Just because they don't have the opportunity or the guts to reach further, to climb the ladder, they want everyone around them to stay with them. That way they don't feel as bad about their situation. Personally I loved the movie, it was on twice today and watched it both times. It's my new favorite.
