Two versions?

I've seen this film about a thousand times - I adored it when it first came out. OK it's not the best rom-com in the world but nostalgia and good old-fashioned romance (plus Dylan McDermmot, HOT!) does it for me every time. One thing though, considering I've seen it so many times I know practically every line of dialogue and when it was on TV this morning (I know, weird time to play it) the ending was completely different!! The ending I'm used to is Sal smashing his car and the two of them spinning in the water and kissing (god, so cheesy) but the one I saw this morning had them exchanging lines of dialogue I've never heard and then going inside the school - no 'I LOVE YOU TOBY MASTELONE', no rain spin/kiss, it was completely different.

WTF?

You've got the brain of a 4 year-old child and I bet he was glad to get rid of it

Nope you're right, in both the scenes you have seen! The only thing is, is that they both happen in one version! There aren't different versions. He smashes his car, he catches her attention, she comes running out, they have a little dialogue, they kiss and spin around in the rain, then they walk towards and into the school, where the kids come running out and Sal and Tobey have another little dialogue as the credits roll down and the camera pans out!...Great movie!

The only problem I have is that its such an old-school film that whenever you mention it to anyone, they always assume you're talking about the completely different film with Ben Affleck, then when you say thats not the one you're talking about, they get even more confused when you say the Ben Affleck one is not a re-make of the Jersey Girl With Jami Gertz!

I always remember the dialogue as they enter the school. Never seen them spinning in the water like you say. Where did you see that? I'm curious to know if it was ever released with that. I have both the dvd and the vhs and the scene you're talking about is not there :( Now, I want to see it. :(

The rain being the water that comes flying out of the fire hydrant! Maybe the bits were cut out on the TV version, as for not seeing it on the VHS or DVD, it beats me, Maybe you didn't realise we meant the water from the fire hydrant, or it really is not on there, in that case I am really sorry I have no explanation!
