What was the point of showing the trucks pass by in every scene? Is there two versions of this movie?

It might be because of her father who was a truck driver and leaved them alone, causing all these disasters.

Nothing but set the boring atmosphere around the poor town. It is part of the image language and there is as far as I know no two versions of this movie.

The actual significance is to illustrate the modern, consumerist aspect of today's Spain which cuts through the rural, traditional image of the country...hence the road divides the landscape and is ever present in the film.
