scenes out of sequence

I just watched it on TV; it was on IFC, perhaps. Several of the scenes were out of sequence; e.g., Bardem was making love to the rich mother in the hotel room before he even met her at the initial meeting where she asked him to hook up with Silvia. The rich boy asked Sllvia's mother to repeat the come-on act but the viewer had never seen any relationship before that, except at the bar where she was acting on Silvia's behalf and not as a flirt.

I figured something happened in editing the film for TV viewing. Any comments?
