Tell me Jackie is a nickname for the last name Jackson!!?! I already asked this in another thread but was wondering was Jackson his first name too?

Actually believe it or not Jackies real first name is Sigmund. How they got Jackie I'll never know.

I believe Katherine and Rebbie started calling him Jackie because Katherine hated the name Sigmound but of course she was probably forced to name her first born son what Joesph wanted because he is such a pig. Obviously they got Jackie from Jackson.

His last name is Jackson .. hench the nick name Jack or in his case Jackie. That reminds me of Jackson Montgomery and how they call him Jacks

Katherine said in her book that Joe's father starting calling him Jackson boy when he was small, which then became Jackie boy, and then just Jackie. Like another poster already mentioned, Katherine liked calling him Jackie because she didn't like the name Sigmund, so the name stayed. Jackie ended up naming his son after himself, and his nickname is Siggy.

I read that they called him Jackie because he wanted to play baseball like Jackie Robinson. In the movie, he played ball before they started singing as a group.

Well I cant believe when I read on Jermaines profile that he has a daughter named Jermagesty.

Imagine all the senerios. IN school a friend calls or comes by and says "Can I speak to Jermagesty" or "Can Jermagesty come out to play"

Or someone at school has a conversation about her and says this about a guy "OH he has a date with Jermagesty"

Or she grows up and marries, demands that her husband do something and he says "Yes Jermsgesty" or "Whatever Jermagesty wants Jermagesty gets"

Correction: He has a SON named Jermajesty. With a "j" not a "g".

Most of the family calls him "Jerma" according to Jackie. But I've also heard his brothers and cousins call him Jermajesty.

I was wondering that the other day how in the world did Jackie get his name Jackie. Unless his middle name was Jackie. I guess you guys summed it up on how he got hs nickname.

Can't believe I'm just now reading this almost 8 years later. Thanks for the correction. Yeah it sounded like a girl's name and sorry I had the spelling wrong. Guess it would be different for the boy in school or in life than it would be for a girl. Still can't believe he would give such a name to a child. Too funny.

I'm pretty sure it's cuz he wanted to play baseball like jackie robinson...i heard he was pretty good at it too. so no wonder they called hum jackie

Jackie was born Sigmund Esco Jackson. He was nicknamed Jackie by his grandfather, taken from Jackson Boy.
