One of my favourite Irish films

This is an absolute classic. It reminds me of my childhood and how Ireland used to be. We mightnt have had a lot of money but we had bucketfulls of happiness to make up for it.

Mine, too. I'm in my 60's and was a horse crazy child. My mother gave me a book when I was about eight and it was titled The Magnificent Barb and about an Irish family who migrated to the American South. The Barb was a horse travelling with Gypsy horse traders ( "travelers")the main character,Kevin persuaded his grandfather to buy the bay with one white sock. Kevin had seen a photograph in an old book of the legendary Godolphin Arabian (1724-1953). Just about every thoroughbred alive today is descended from this horse. His grandson , Young Janus was imported to Virginia before the Revolution and was once ridden by George Washington. Janus became the foundation sire of the American Quarter Horse. I have a Quarter Horse and was able to trace him back to Janus using Pedigree Inquiry on the net. I LOVE THIS FILM and have it on DVD
