An American Werewolf In London?

This is utterly random, but I paused the movie at one point and rewinded a part. During the scene when right before Gabriel Byrne wakes up in the tent from a nightmare, right before he does Ellen is awake and staring up. As she does this there's a high pitched barking in the distance. It sounds like the howl that was used from American Werewolf only it's sped up very quickly. Wonder why they decided to put that in there.
