Killing the Undead?

Interesting that shooting these 'vampires' in the head would kill them when they are supposedly already the 'undead'. If shot anywhere else, they seemed to heal. Strange little movie. Love the way her eyes changed color during the sex scene.

I don't know about that; I see plenty of people posting to these boards who give no appearance of having brains. You know what I'm talkin' about.

I can live with the "Shot in the head" bit, its when Marie the vampire kills the other vampires by "Breaking their necks" that had me dissapointed. Other than that... Casting was superb, the actors really seemed to have fun with their roles, this was classic John Landis at his very best. Sad that his talent has seemed to decline. Beverly hills cop 3 was the exact opposite of what we've come to expect from John Landis. Sad but true. I hope he gets back in the game soon. I feel like he has some good movies left in him. Anne Parillaud was unbelievable and unbelievably sexy. I have not heard of or seen her before or since this film. I'd love to know more about her career. Fan club anyone?

Actually, I'm the opposite, its in lore that the "removal" of the head is required for vampires (so the breaking of the necks was pretty close to it)...but the shots to the head?!?!?!?! Thought they were vampires, not Romero Zombies!! This is what bugged me the most toward the end.

As someone stated, despite this movie not making huge Box Office, it was very reminiscent of "old school" Landis. This and AWIL make a great double feature!

Separating the head from the body, shot in the head and breaking the neck have the same result. You destroy the brain's connection to the body thereby killing the vampire.

That is the one thing about vampire movies. You can change the "myth" of how to kill them or what can kill them to suit the type of vampire movie you are making.

I agree with that. Vampires have so many variants in both mythology and fiction, that the notion of undead vampires getting killed via shots to the head doesn't sound seem that unusual.

Other than having some super powers, these vampires were about as easy to kill as a typical human.
