French films about French brutality in Indochina?

I'm looking for both non-fiction and fiction films but can't seem to find any listed at IMDb. Why is this?

reply

I have heard about the brutality of French colonial rule in former Indochina, I really liked the film. I recently watched it last week.

reply

Probably because most of the brutality came from the Vietnamese, and they don't want people to remember that.

Why do people condemn French colonial rule, that built Vietnam from nothing in less than a century, yet support brutal nihilistic regimes like the Khmer Rouge and Ho Chi Min?

reply

Both Vietnam and Algeria would be better off if they were still a part of France. No doubt about it.

Last I heard Vietnam had adapted commercial free market economics, in spite of still using the old communist system of government.

reply

Maybe France and Vietnam both see that era as an embarrassment. Just speculation on my part, but hey, you never know.
