i remember the summer they filmed the movie in marion, iowa inside my grandmother's house (for the cain home scenes).

the house next door was used for exterior shots, and my grandma's house for the interior. a fair amount of remodeling was done and certain camera angles were used to make the interior look much smaller than the house actually is...its really a pretty large home and they literally were able to hide half of it...the real living room, dining room, and two bedrooms are nowhere to be seen.

obviously, for small-town iowa, it was a huge deal to have a movie being filmed (even if it was a made for tv one, lol). i think it was one of the biggest thrills in my grandma's life. afterwards, the director of the film sent my grandmother a birthday card every year, and even came to visit on her 100th birthday (back in 2001).

Hey - I live in Marion, IA (have all my life). I would be interested in seeing/driving by the house that was used in this movie. If you wouldn't mind letting me know the address (here or email me at [email protected]) I would love to drive by. I lived in the Hillcrest House (halfway home that they talk about and also had a brief stay at the Abbe Center where they film many of the scenes also.
