Why?

I was flipping through channels and came across this movie right at the part where the DCFS lady was telling the mother's brother that the mother said she would only agree to go get help if he was not allowed to take the children. Does anyone know why? Did she have a problem with him? I missed the beginning of the movie and was just wondering if anyone knew?





Chandler: He had sex with Mr. Garibaldi!
Monica: Who's Mr. Garibaldi?
Chandler: Does it matter?!
