First rewatch after 20 years

I saw the film on release and loved it. The humour, the characters, the acting and the sorrow. Although I bought this on VHS I never watched it and have waited a long time to find it on dvd. It was worth the wait. I enjoyed the film better the second time around, which is rare. Usually it's nice to appreciate as much as the first time and/or perceive something missed on a first viewing. I don't understand it any better than I did the first time but that's not a problem for me and neither does it spoil the film.

To say a little often is to tell more than to say a great deal.

I enjoyed it, too. Thought it was very well-made and quite moving near the end. Tonight I'll be watching Roselyne and the Lions, and hopefully it'll be the fifth Beineix film I really like.
