Judy Davis steals the show in this but the underrated performance...

goes to Mia Farrow. She plays that particular character perfectly. She lives up to her ex-husband's summation of her passive aggressive traits that always seem to make things go her way. Yes she is annoying and lacks dynamic in comparison to the Davis character but that's point and she pulls it off beautifully.

I enjoy their films but I find neither Allen nor Farrow particularly appealing as people and this may be reflected in this particular film.

Farrow is good but my favourite performance of hers is The Purple Rose of Cairo. Judy Davis is simply blinding in Husbands & Wives, one of the great performances of the '90s imo. Sydney Pollack is memorable, too.
