Anybody else want him to get with becky in the end?

They have such a history, gwen just conned her way into his life

I totally know what you mean but because we're so invested in Gwen's funny character, I find myself rooting for Gwen. She has an underlying caring nature that is able to override the actual con artist that she also is. Sorry Becky

Absolutely not. I can't stand people like Becky. She broke his heart and only wanted him back when she thought he was married. Vile person.

I agree, she had her chance. He built her a HOUSE and proposed. I eould have said Yes. Although the only thing I didn't like about the house was the bathroom in the bedroom. Not like most master baths.

Becky is so much hotter than Gwen. No contest there.

She's dressed to kill in every scene. She even looks great in her sweatshirt with the short jogging skirt. Plus, Becky just smolders like a volcano about to erupt. Contrast her fireplace scene with Gwen being kissed by Newt in her apartment.

Gwen comes off as decent looking maybe twice, when she's wearing the workout clothes when Newt first discovers her in the house and the black dress at the reception. The trashy leopard print wrap she wears on her first trip to Dobbs Mill is her style. Ordinarily, I'd go with the blonde, but take one look at Gwen, there's a lady who looks like she's had a lot of miles put on her while Becky is fresh and perky.

As far as Becky is an educated, classy lady. Gwen is scarcely above white trash. Yeah, Becky kind of blew it when she turned Newt down the first time, but Gwen lies whether breaking a sweat, she's moody and she takes advantage of other people with little remorse. Becky was nice to Gwen even when she realized that Gwen had taken up with Newt and when given the opportunity, refused to sleep with Newt because he's a married man. A 5-minute walk around the block and Gwen was ready to hook up.

So, marry Becky if you want a decent wife and mother. Keep Gwen in an apartment in the city for an occasional night out and some side nooky, then toss her when she gets inconvenient, which might not take as long as you think.

"You didn't come into this life just to sit around on a dugout bench, did ya?"

You know it's funny I was about start this very topic. My family didn't own many vhs tapes back in the day when I was a kid so the few we had we would often re watch a lot. Such was the case with this film and each time I had extremely mixed feelings about the ending. Even as a kid years away from puberty I found Becky to be sooooo much more attractive than Gwen. In retrospect I think Dana Delany was miscast to play the rival of Goldie Hawn. She was just way too beautiful and curiously still likable despite playing the foil.

On top of that, at the end of the day her character's worse crime was initially taking Martin's character for granted and then later changing her mind and trying to get him back. Even though Gwen may be surprisingly friendly for a con artist she's still a con artist and a pathological liar who could ultimately never really be trusted. A fact which is punctuated at the very end of the movie.

It's been pointed out that Becky has a lot more going for her than just being utterly gorgeous. She's also classy and intelligent. When you think about it this film could have very easily been re worked from Becky's perspective as the protagonist who made a mistake and is trying to win back the man she loves from the clutches of some crooked con artist wench. If this is real life no way in hell am I choosing Gwen over Becky.

So better looking is a criteria? How shallow are you? BTW let me remind you, Becky was also sleeping around on him.

Dana Delany must've had alot of fun playing this role: she played a prude.

But she didn't want him. IT was only when she thought another woman was interested in him that she showed any sign of liking him. She didn't really care about him.

Up until she revealed her true self at the end of the party - maybe.
