Sweet reason

despite what ppl may have though of Korman i think it was really sweet that the only reason he wanted Betsy so much was because she reminded him of his late wife

seriously most old men go for young women simply because they are sleezy and crave a young sexy body to go to bed with every night, but his reason was different and even though she was someone elses i still found his reason for wanting her to be really lovely!

goes to show just how much his wife meant to him... *wipes invisible tear*

For the most part i agree with you. Korman, while he used some dirty tactics, was not really a "bad" guy per se (ie. like a gangster or mobster). He really seemed to love her because of how much she reminded him of his late wife.

Since this film was a romantic comedy, his character was a lot more benign and scaled back....if it were any other film, the Korman character would probably try to kill for her or end up being killed himself.

It's so funny...i saw this film when i was about 13 years old and now that im 30, i understand Korman's explanation to Betsy when he tells her life is short and sometimes we think way too much and need to just live life while we can. Being a much older person than Betsy, Korman's perspective was probably more that he loved her and that's all that matters cuz life is short, but for Betsy she has time to ponder and having already someone she loves didn't see the urgency in just jumping into the marriage.

I agree with what has been said. I liked the character Korman more so than I liked Jack, in fact, I found Jack annoying and selfish. And yes, the fact that Korman found Betsey to resemble his late wife a tad bit creepy, but honestly, it really didn't bother me. Plus he seemed to have a nice family and it seemed like he knew what he wanted in life. Part of me wanted Betsey to choose him over Jack.
