If Kevin had thrown down the camera to Harry and Marv..

If Kevin had thrown down the camera (instead of bricks) like Harry wanted him to, do you think they would've really left Kevin alone?

Do you think they intentionally wanted to physically hurt or kill Kevin had he not pulled any of those pranks this time around?

hurt

He would still have the photos. It always seemed to me like Harry didn’t really understand how this type of camera works.

The photos didn't even matter, they were already wanted for all of their crimes in the first movie and for escaping from prison.

So.... why would he need the camera then? It's not like him taking more photos would had changed anything at this point.

reply

The camera never mattered. Whether Harry and Marv robbed the toy store or not they were still going away for a long time if caught

In this case, why did Harry even bother trying to trick Kevin into believing that they will let him go if he gives them the camera? I see what you mean and I agree, but I just find it useless considering that they were going to try and get him no matter if he gave them the camera or not.

The movie seemed to think that the pictures mattered so within the context of the movie the camera was an important plot device. In the real world however it wouldn’t have mattered. I guess maybe Harry thought his sentence would be increased if the police saw the pictures but I have a feeling he was fucked either way

''The movie seemed to think that the pictures mattered so within the context of the movie the camera was an important plot device.''

But that's the problem: he didn't ask for the pictures, or even mentionned them, only for the camera. I just rewatched it to be completly sure and I confirm he didn't. So, should we simply accept that Harry didn't know what kind of camera Kevin had? Because in the scene when they are rubbing the toy store, it seemed quite obvious that photos came out of the camera and Kevin put them in his pocket. I agree that there was a considerable distance between the robbers and Kevin, and that no everybody has a perfect eyesight.

If that is the case, I can almost put this in the category of little subtleties that not everyone would notice, and I love when movies do that. It always add something that relies on the viewers' attention to details to little details, without really affecting the plot if you don't notice/care about it. I've always thought about how the camera wasn't what they needed, but just now with your comment I think about your interesting angle that the camera was useless anyways (despite having relevance, as you said, in the context of the movie). I mean, it's not SO relevant anyways, but it's fun to spot it.

I always assumed that Harry meant the camera and the photos

They would still try to kill Kevin. They needed too. He was the only person in the city who knew who they were and what they had done. With Kevin out of the way, they leave the city with all the money and no one even knows they were there.

Keep in mind hat Harry said he had a gun in his pocket the whole time. Meaning he could've shot Kevin at ANY time if he truly wanted to.
