If Home Alone happening in present day

Could a kid like Kevin left alone in home or he boards on a wrong plane while Home Alone could set into 2010s with TSA, social media, internet and other modern technology that didn't exist in 90s?

I would said no pretty much, through he or she might get away with boarding the wrong plane, if they hide their ticket and be convincing enough to be allowed to be boarded. But it might still work then it would with the first one, it would also depend on if the kid's family knows anybody in New York or anybody in the United States that they can get it touch with. But for sure they would use cell phones, and may not have to make the first contact with police viva airport security office. But all in all I would say 50/50 chance of it happening in today's world.

While boarding to wrong plane is impossible nowadays, I think there is also problem with forgetting your kid home alone. As I had read about articles how america works :D the parents would getting arrested and kid probably sent to foster family.

Second thing is about social media, GPS tracking and stuff. I am pretty sure that kids at this age would start bragging in Facebook and or Instagram that they are home alone. And with kids having a phones today, parents can easily tracking him.

And for robbers, I am pretty sure when a robbers attack a house, first) kid would share it in social media and this is going to viral instanly and second) kids in nowadays have different creativness about defending their home. While in original movie, in real life, some of these accidents to robbers could be fatal, that would happened also in nowadays. And kid or parents may getting sued.

You haven't seen Home Alone 5? Well, if you haven't, don't bother. It's terrible.

But to answer your question, no.

I have seen Home Alone 5 and it was not good if compared to Home Alone 1-3. But the terrible movie in the series is Home Alone 4.

And your point is where? I talked about Home Alone 1 and 2 with theatrical budget not limited budget produced from cable channel (ABC Family).

The movies could definitely still take place in modern world, they would just have to use clever writing to make modern technology not matter. Home phones existed in 1990, they came up with some excuse about the phone lines being on the fritz. The movie also would've been impossible in any era if the police weren't incompetent.

I don't see how even with them in both movies sleeping in too late, getting up and rush to get ready and then rush all the way through the airport, as now you have to really go through security and take your shoes off, and empty your pockets and be checked to be clear to go in, and who knows what would happen if they find a big no no on you.

They could do something where maybe Kevin is grounded for the night while the rest of the family goes to some kind of holiday party or festival on the other side of town, and a snow storm or some other catastrophic event could prevent the family from getting back home to explain why Kevin is left alone for so long.

reply

Kevin's parents would've been arrested or taken away from him for losing him not once but TWICE.
