Why did the Sticky Bandits care about Kevin taking their picture?

They've already escaped from prison and are on the run. They just got a boatload of cash and can easily get away. How cares if they get another crime pinned on them?

Because they're wanted men, and the picture would reveal that they're in New York City, outside of Duncan's Toy Chest. All Kevin had to do was keep them distracted long enough to draw the cops' attention.

Right, but they had the money already and plenty of time to escape. They didn't have to follow Kevin, they could have just left.

They shouldn't care, since as you said, they could have just taken off. What made even less sense was Harry demanding that Kevin hand over the camera. What good could it have done him if Kevin handed over a Polaroid?

I ma surprised that nobody has mentioned this, but those couple of pictures are hard evidence that they are the ones that robbed the toy store. As the police wouldn't know it, and without the couple of pictures that he took, the cops could have been like "how do we know you are the two guys that robbed Duncan's Toy Chest", and they would have easily let them go. And there were no other witnesses that was in the area that was paying attention that could have also pointed them out as the two men. And Kevin McCallister was the only person that had knowedgle of the crime, and Marv had told him.

Right, but they're already on the run and have escaped prison. Why do they care about another burglary charge? That is minor compared to the penalty for escaping prison. They have a lot of cash and can easily get away.

Yes, from a logical stand point, they really shouldn't care about the pictures. Their stated plan was to rob the toy store and then get some phony passports and get out of the country. So, if they were able to do this quickly, then maybe the pictures don't really matter since it's not exactly using today's technology.

Never once taking into account that a huge store like Duncan's just might have had one or two surveillance cameras running.

They should have put on ski masks when robbing the chess drawers and cash registers because A---as someone mentioned it covers surveillance. B---it's always good to cover identify. C---just in case someone walked by and someone saw them thru window (such as Kevin) then they would've been covered.

With ski masks they can run away with money once Kevin breaks window.

Instead of setting up booby traps at his uncles house. Why didn't Kevin just phone the police and tell them that 2 escaped prisoners were going to rob Duncan's toy store at midnight.

Good points, but they're stupid.
