How many of traps would have killed in real life?

The traps in Home Alone 1 were deadly but the traps in Home Alone 2 were by far the deadliest but how many of the traps would killed Harry and Marv in real life the traps in Home Alone 2 would have easily caused injury even death in real life.

I would say maybe one of the few traps in Home Alone would be considered deadly, I have never heard of anybody getting killed by a falling iron, it could be a serious injury, but might be fatal spending on how bad you got injured. But for sure in this movie they were more deadly, and I would say pretty much all of them would be deadly, even any ones that involve Electricity. The first trap for Marv since he takes the front, is when he opens the door he is at the top saying "Harry I have reached the top", and is unaware until its too late (if at all) there is a hole there and he falls all the way to the basement, I would have to imagine that would be pretty deadly. Next up is some kind of green paint that he slips on and slides into a shelf with paint falls and when he hits the shelf it falls on top of him spilling paint on hi,/. And another trap he took the handle of something like a washer and Kevin doing something with the whatever it was that was causing him to go into getting shocked until he finally trend it off.

Why does everyone keep saying it was a washing machine? It was clearly a laundry tub!

reply

I had to google laundry tub. I don't remember seeing that in the movie.

reply

After the paint shelves fall on Marv he is trying to turn on the faucets on the laundry tub(wash basin) and gets electrocuted and becomes a member of the Greatful Dead. ;)

reply

The washing machine prank.

The Harry catching on fire and sticking his head in water filled with karosene

Multiple brinks thrown at Marv

reply

I would agree with you for sure with the Washing Machine

reply

The first brick could've killed him.

I am not a medical expert so this is all speculation based on past injuries and my knowledge of physics:

1. Harry Seesaw- very possible given the impact with the car.
2. Marv Brick 1- yes
3. Marv Brick 2- yes
4. Marv Brick 3- yes
5. Marv Brick 4- ok Kevin's a sadist
6. Marv Staples to rear, crotch, and face- No
7. Harry Fall from Fire escape- broken neck/back, but I don't think death
8. Marv fall to basement- very possible given that his face breaks the fall
9. Harry and the wrenches- I would say it's possible. Any injury to the head can be fatal and there were a lot of wrenches that hit him.
10. Marv's slip and crash into shelves + paint can avalanche- Yes
11. Harry's flaming head- No
12. Harry's flaming head in a gas/kerosene-filled toilet- YES
13. Marv's electrocution- The skeleton says it all
14. Marv's bag of cement mix- Pick up one of those bags at a Lowe's. Then picture one falling three 2-3 stories and hitting you directly on the head. Either death or permanent wheel-chair
15. Harry's ladder fall- no
16. Harry and Marv hit by pipe + fall 2-3 stories + pipe landing on them- ummm YES!- mostly for the fall to the concrete basement floor.
17. Harry and Marv meet tool chest- don't think so
18. Harry + Marv fall 3-4 stories through scaffolding onto concrete sidewalk with varnish cans falling on them- YES!
19. The birds- no but it wouldn't be pretty

So by my count: I got 9 definites, 4 possibles, and 6 no's.

"Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!"

Great breakdown! Now I want to pop in the movie and fast forward to those scenes. Again.

Kevin could easily killed Harry or Marv. And the psychopath kid should be tried as an adult.

Harry seesaw my dad claims in real life he'd have died.

Brick falls probably one would cause concussion but further more deadly.

Green TMNT slime on ladder probably just a pulled muscle

Staples just Emergency Room trip at worst

Fall into basement - disabled for life but not dead necessarily

Tools bag - the tolls weren't that high so it'd probably just cause a concussion

Paint shelf - broken ribs and possible coma from paint fumes but not deadly

Electric sink - Death! Especially if lead was in the paint

Blow torch explosion - possible lived like seen or possible that Marv could have even died

Plaster bag - it's 75 pounds fallen a long distance = death

Broken ladder - just stun

Stairs trap - lead pipe 1st death, while falling back they hit paint cans is 2nd death, when falling in basement from higher than Marv did first time it is 3rd death, sewer pipe falling on them is 4th death. This trap killed them 4 times

Tool Chest - no, after crashing into door it'd slow down and not kept going plus it was losing all its aresonal as it was going down the stairs.

Kerosine rope - they would have caught on fire - first death, fall four stories is 2nd death

Pigeons - Marv could die from panic or heart attack

Marc's big mouth - what doesn't kill Harry makes him stronger

Pigeon infection - possible death

reply

Technically Harry and Marv shouldn't have had been alive to even make it to the second movie.

Its amazing how people hang around message boards of movies they dont like

The bricks Marv took to the head I mean that was enough to cause brain damage. The fire to the head in real life a person would probably have severe 1st degree burn and I'm not sure if fire to the head would cause brain damage.

Needless to say, Harry & Marv got what they deserved for trying to steal from children!
