paid off Pete Connelly (John C. Reilly) or at least convinced him to betray Hoffa? Robert Kennedy? the mob?

Also was it ever revealed what the message was that Connelly was trying to give Hoffa, and never got the chance? It seemed rather urgent, but Hoffa kept putting him off. . .

No one paid Petey off. He just got the same offer from the government that they'd offered to Bobby, and Petey chose to take advantage of it and testify. It was either that or go to prison.
