RTA strike scene

How could anyone know who was on which side during the fight scene. Am I missing something here? I didn't notice any badges, armbands, or such.

I was wondering abotu that as well. Maybe if you didn't see a face you recognised, you attacked that person? Talk about friendly fire.

When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...

LoL, I was thinking the same thing. They were all dressed exactly the same. And when the bay doors opened and all those additional guys with sticks and bats came charging into the fight scene...I was thinking, who are they going to attack?

Excuse me sir, are you a striker? Yes, ok whack!

In real life. Union members and strikers would wear a arm band or something that would tell people what side you're on.

Miners that were part of the Miner's Union would wear a red bandana around their necks when they were at a funeral for a union brother. Or when they were on strike. That's how the term "Redneck" came from.

And during the RTA strike and brawl. In real life it was a three way fight. It was the Teamsters fighting another union that wanted the RTA people in their union. And the strike breakers that were working for RTA. Notice how the police just stood back and watched.

Now these days, we don't have unions in the street fighting each other to unionizing workers that work at a company.

I was an extra in that scene, and I just swung at whoever the AD told me to. 😉

The unions have become more pacifist, opting for peaceful protest over, well, whatever it takes to get the job done. The problem is, companies have not totally abandoned resorting to violence, except that now they hire legitimate private security firms that specialize in busting up strikes. They use the local laws to their advantage, and their goal is to intimidate the strikers by any means possible, and also to use the strikers' behavior as plausibility for self defense, so that they can attack.

In the American labor movement, one side laid down it's sword, the other didn't. This country misses Jimmy Hoffa.

Unions pacifist? They don't swing bats anymore, but they're just as corrupt and just as violent. I was in the Teamsters for years and I was proud to be a Teamster. However, I know that the Teamsters are so corrupt, especially the Union leaders. I've been in three unions in my working lifetime and none of them did any good to the rank-and-file members. All they did was collect union dues. And, like everything else, each year the dues became more and more expensive.
