Real version to be made by Scorsese next year

Based on the book "I heard you paint houses" about mafia hit man Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran who was Hoffas buddy, and the one that shot him.

The movie is going to be insane - De Niro, Joe Pesci, Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel, Bobby Cannivale - and other a-listers are asking to be in it because they know its going to be the Goodfellas / Casino of the 2010's (Ray Liotta).

It'll be about the true actual events of Hoffa and the mob ties as told by Sheeran, which will be played by De Niro.

Cannot wait!

I hope this happens and I hope it's much better and gives us more of a better look at Hoffa than this Mamet hack piece.

It's just two hours of boring filler leading up to the made up BS assassination.

It'll be good - I've heard it'll be De Niro, Pesci and Pacino's final film to cap off their acting careers.

You can learn a little insight into it by reading the book I heard you paint houses (which was the first thing Hoffa said to Sheeran over the phone, meaning the blood splatter on the walls = hit man). Sheeran answered back, I also do my own carpentry work = gets rid of the bodies.

Or listen to one of Charles Brandts interviews on YouTube.

It's listed on here under The Irishman

I'm kinda sick of these guys, aren't you? Geesh... Pacino is looking like Alice Cooper more and more every day, and I thought Pesci retired. I love De Niro, but I'm kinda sick of him, too. All these guys are too old to play Hoffa and his cohorts. Geesh, they'd have to put Pacino is a wheelchair and DeNiro in a walker for God's sake! Can't they come up with any other younger actors? C'mon! There's got to be some younger actors who can do a bang-up Scorsese movie!

Do you have a link to this announcement?

Because it is not showing up on the Scorsese or Pesci pages.

Not that I mean to doubt you but sometimes a movie is rumored and it either doesn't get made at all or it takes years to be completed.

Update: After looking around, I see a few places suggesting that it is likely to happen.

I has been delayed a few times, but its set to go next spring. Here's an interview from the author and he talks about the move as well.

I'm just curious if you watched Hoffa and what you think of it if you did.

I did and I liked it for what it is, they told the story of Hoffa but a very PG version. He was much more brutal than this movie portrayed - he used Sheerans skills to whack people that got in his way - all they showed in the movie was one failed car bomb. (for example)

He also funded the mob which built Las Vegas - they really didn't show that either.

A proper movie with all the facts and mafia drama will be a smash hit

Hoffa didn't fund the Las Vegas mobs, the Teamsters' pension fund did that. I love all of Scorsese's movies and I would love to see him make a movie about Hoffa, just not with the geriatric group of Pesci, DeNiro, and Pacino. They're too old and Pacino is suffering from dementia, in my opinion. He looks like Alice Cooper these days. School's out for him, in my opinion.

Those guys will be playing the older characters - I assume the movie will have Sheeran (played by Deniro) on his death bed, while he tells the stories and then the movie plays with younger characters. If Marty is doing it, it'll be good.

I agree that Scorsese is usually a guarantee of a great movie. He hasn't made a major picture in years...unless I'm really behind things. I don't do well with the newer movies as most of them are trash. What I've seen on cable of the newer movies just makes me glad I didn't PAY to see them. The last really good movie I saw (on cable) was "The Pianist" with Adrien Brody. "Fury" and "Monuments Men" were very good. But, I'm sort of partial to anything dealing with WWII.

Then, sadly came "50 Shades of Grey", "Gone Girl", "Argo" (I should have known better with Affleck in it...), and a long host of other crappy movies that were either about vampires, zombies, or vampir-zombies. The best movies seem to be animation--and can we really call them animation anymore? Anyway, my point being is that there are so few excellent movies anymore. I am told that "The Revenant" is excellent. But, I'm still going to wait until I can watch it on cable.

I would love to see what Scorsese can do with Hoffa. Between Scorsese and Polanski, there are some great movies.
