I couldn't watch!

I had to stop this vid on Netflix after about 8 minutes. That was AFTER watching one of the other GS movies after just a few minutes.

Whoever made these needs their head examined!! And -- don't get me wrong -- I am a BIG James Arness and Gunsmoke fan; that's why I watched these to begin with.

Would you expect to see an 8-months-pregnant ballerina in a tutu performing at The Met? Of course not! So why would we expect to see a very frail-appearing elderly James Arness still decking bad guys (who just happen to be in their 20s; yeah, that's believable!) with that mean backhand? It doesn't MAKE SENSE and it's not BELIEVABLE. It was painful to watch, and I couldn't.

Your loss. Probably the most stupid thing I've ever read.

U have to remember ... while Arness WAS much older, he was still a very large man. Even in the "Gunsmoke" movies, Arness was still 6'3 to 4", and, tho he had slimmed down, surely still weighed 190 to 215 lbs. or so. He could STILL pack a punch! Of course, he couldn't move as fast (except maybe in spurts), but I had a family friend that was in his 70's (I was around 30), and we were kidding around one day while doing some construction work. He hauled off and slugged me and it was the hardest I had been hit in years!
I think Matt could still deck obnoxious idiots, in a heartbeat ... it's surviving all the gunshot wounds and stabbings that stretch the credibility most, i.m.o.

I have to agree, a big man like Dillon/Arness with all that power and muscle memory from all those years would not be one I would challenge. This character is a physical outdoors-man, not somebody that's lived his life on a couch. Many young people cannot comprehend that. Regardless, my pet peeve with these movies, especially TV movies, is the numerous times these characters get knocked-out with the butt of a gun. Especially Matt Dillon. How many times has this guy been knocked-out and still doesn't suffer from epilepsy or a stroke?
