help with a similar movie

i love this film, i actually picked it up thinking it was a different one. i was pleasently suprised when i saw this one. anyways my question is about a movie i saw on the sci fi channel years ago. it had a similar plot to this but i specifically remember a scene where a little girl spends the night at a friends house and the ghosts follow her there. i'm sure it's not any of these films: the entity,burnt offerings,amittyville horror.

It was released around the same time as a made-for-tv movie and had a similar plot.

I haven't seen the movie for a long time, but parts I remember about it sound like what you're talking about:

The family goes into the mountains to get away from the spirit, but I think it follows them.

After the house is exorcized of its spirits, the family moves into a new one. The movie ends where the mother is in the kitchen unpacking and hears her mother calling her, until she realizes it's the spirits.

If not, the only other film I could think of would be Grave Secrets, which was released in 1989 (not Grave Secrets: The Legacy of Hilltop Drive).

I do believe you are thinking of "The Haunted" a 1991 Made for tv film aired on FOX. Based on the Smurl haunting. Let me guess, it had this shadowy ghost follow them to a camp ground after leaving their home? They had it exorcised and all but it still came back to them? I'd bet that's the movie because both came out around the same time. Both were "based on true stories" but that's a far cry really lol

Is grave secrets the film where at the end it was all a dream and the final scenes are in the basement? If not which film am I thinking of? if it's not this then the plot is exactly the same as it.

I remember that movie. It was quite scary and aired on Fox, and it involved demons instead of just ghosts. Only the demon could follow them when they left the house. It's on Youtube.
