Cross Dressing Brian Dennehy? SPOILER!!!

I loved this movie till the end when Brian Dennehy jumped in the ring in what looked like a woman's bathing suit from the 1940s lol. What was that all about? He talked so much about the bare knuckle era but in pictures I've seen the bare knuckle era fighters didn't wear those wacky Andre The Giant looking wrestling outfits. I think Mr. Dennehy should have done a couple of push ups and maybe gone through a few boxing lessons. That wacky stuff at the end ruined the whole movie for me the first time I saw it. I've seen it since and grown to like it in a similar way that Rocky V sort of almost grew on me. Here's a tip- check out "Split Decisions" with Gene Hackman and "Streets of Gold" with Wesley Snipes. Those are two underated boxing movies from the late '80s early '90s era that I recommend.

I know, that was hilarious. I could not stop laughing seeing Dennehy in the ring. More funny than seeing Dennehy play Coach Bobby Knight in that ESPN film.

the whole movie is unrealistic by today's terms, right down the boxing gloves. but who cares? watch real boxing if you want real boxing

That full-body suit that Dennehy was wearing was hilarious. I assume he wore that because he's so out of shape. As for the boxing being unrealistic, I believe that's because the fights were supposed to be illegal and underground.

The body suit was fantastic.
brians younger lady friend was still hot for him when she saw him in that costume, it was only when he lost that she turned sour on him.

I always laughed at the part where Dennehy hits Cuba, and he goes flying over the top rope.

I dunno about you, but I think this is a pretty silly outfit too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:John_L_Sullivan.jpg and he's a real bareknuckle fighter.
