Gladiator definitely has a kind of 'vintage' quality to it; today it is almost "retro.." it's one of the qualities that make it so damn good..it has such an amazing nostalgic feel. I saw this in 92 when i was a kid, then rediscovered it recently. It is 100 times better than i even remembered it.

It doesn't mid-80's at all to me. 1989 at the earliest.
shareThere's no information on IMDB when it was filmed but I'm assuming it was around late 1990 going into 1991 because it was cold so it had to be fall-winter-early spring when they filmed this. Most movies at that time still had an 80s feel to them or late 80s feel to them to be specific.
The 90s didn't really start until 1993 anyways and ended around 2002 or 2003. 1990-92 was still a transition period out of the 80s into the 90s.
