I just got finished watching this movie with my 17 yr old and he loved it. I watched this in the theater and on VHS back in the day. This is a great movie that teaches to look at people the same and not by color. To keep fighting. When tough times come you need to fighting and not give up. All star supporting cast.

Now while it’s not exactly a top-pier film, it certainly packs a punch. Love its performances, story, tone, and last but not least young Cara Buono. ;}
I’ve always been fond of this one.
I remember seeing it on cable a lot in the early to mid 90s. It kind of fell off the face of the earth after the other movie called Gladiator came out. Every once in awhile it plays on THIStv, with commercials.

shareYeah, better then it's 6.5 rating on IMDB. I'd give it at least 7.2 or something. Brian Dennehy and Robert Loggia play great villains especially Dennehy. Twin Peaks James Marshall was a good hero and was convincing as a boxer. Cuba Gooding Jr did well with a underwritten role, expected him to feature more in this one. Cara Buono is easy on the eye.
One moment took me out of the film, when Dennehy knocks Gooding Jr out of the ring. That was a little silly. But the fight scenes were fun and it went by with a nice pace and didn't overstay it's welcome.
