I couldn't tell that Mel had any wrinkles in this movie

That's of course untill they started aging his character. But Mel was a good 35 during shooting. No crows feet or bags whatsover. Sure, makeup and lighting do wonders but Mel was pretty squared jaw and wringle free in the movie. Definitely a feat at 35. He could easily pass for late 20s in the movie.

Really? In my opinion, Mel is one of those actors that always look older than his actual age... Look at first "Mad Max" Mel was barely 21 years old during filming and his character was a veteran cop with a wife & kid, matured role for such young age.. In most of the movies actors playing TEENS are reaching 30 or above (Swayze in "The Outsiders", Rourke in "Rumble Fish", Stockard Channing & Olivia Newton-John in "Grease", Alan Ruck in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" among others...) because they looked younger, but Mel always had that matured look in his face & because of that he was always cast as older than his actual age (Max Rockatansky, Martin Riggs in "Lethal Weapon", Dale McKussik in "Tequilla Sunrise", "Bird on a Wire" etc characters were older than him.

I'm a huge Gibson fan and now that I think of it, this is probably the last movie where he had very smooth, youthful, healthy features, maybe Maverick too but by '95 with Braveheart and '96 with Ransom he started to show his age a little more with some wrinkles, etc.

He looks awesome in the Expendables 3 teaser and a few released pics though.
