Everyone seems to find it a nice trend to compare FernGully with James Cameron's Avatar...

...but here's what I want to know, to those who want to compare this movie with "Avatar"...do you mean your assumptions in a positive in a negative light? That is never explained, all I ever here is "OMFG, THIS IS SO MUCH LIKE FERNGULLY" or "THIS IS THE REAL AVATAR", now tell us! If you keep wanting to make these dumb comparisons, do you ultimately think either movie is good or not?

People are comparing the stories. Because both are about corporations destroying the environment in order to make profit.

- because both have an employee of a corporation transform and live amongst a group of pointy ear natives in a huge lush rainforest.

- both natives have a symbiotic relationship with nature.

- the main character falls in love with a native girl.

- the main character gets called out for being a liar.

- the main character confesses his involvement with destroying the natives home.

- both movies feature a jealous native who hates the main character for stealing his girl.

- both movies feature a giant tree chopping machine.

- both movies have the main native girl take control of their clans.

- both feature giant animals and glowing trees.

- both natives live in a big tree.

I like Avatar but there sure are a lot of simularites to Ferngully.

There’s nothing to compare Avatar is a plagiarized fancy bells and whistle “Ferngully”, In terms substance and protagonists “Ferngully: wins hands down.
